Week Ending Sept. 5th
From the Classroom
This week we focused on settling into our routines and getting comfortable with our classroom and our school. We practiced expectations for how we work together, move through our spaces, and take care of one another.
In literacy, we worked on letter and sound recognition, paying special attention to the vowels. We also began to notice how letters come together to form words, which will help us as readers and writers this year.
In math, we practiced counting and started using chants to help us count all the way to 100. We also learned a new math word: when two objects match, they make a pair.
In social studies, we talked about the importance of belonging and community — what it means to be part of our classroom family and how we each bring something special to our group.
In science, we checked in on the Grouse Mountain bear camera and saw the grizzly bears we’ll be learning more about this year. The students were very excited to see them for the first time!
It has been a full and wonderful week of learning together. We are off to a strong start and I am so proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity the students are showing already.
